technology

an energy system to produce fresh water in an efficient and economic way

Cool Steam desalination technology based on multistage vacuum distillation of water from diverse origins (sea, brackish, polluted, industrial, etc.) at low pressure and temperature, taking advantage of the surplus energy from industrial processes or nature.

It consists on a thermal phase change separation process that works at low temperatures by decreasing the working pressure. Low working temperature and overall temperature gradient make possible to rely on low grade heat sources.

For running, Cool Steam process needs:

  • A external low grade heat source for evaporation
    • Industrial waste heat
    • Renewable sources
  • A cooling source for condensation
    • Seawater itself
    • Any renewable cool water stream
    • LNG
  • Power supply
    • Photovoltaic solar panels
    • wind generators
